Is C++ Really a Good Language?
In languages that are kind of mathematically grounded, features end up doing more than you might think they would. For example, generalized algebraic data types (GADTs) have been incredibly useful in a wide variety of ways and ways that surprised people who added GADTs to the language. And I tie some of this uncanny generality of the features to the fact that the features hold together in a way that goes just beyond the initial use cases that were imagined by the people who added them.
