The distal one third of you sophagust you have control over. Ah, but it all contracts involuntarily. It does it as though you've got stocking and ou've put a tennis ball in that stocking,. You'll squeeze your hand around it and continue to move. So this patent like, wave like motion called peristalsus is how the smooth muscles contract. And they'll get what at vessels get. That's whayt. People get really bad pain when the stones in there, because that's wright they the wave like patterns contract around the stone. This stretches the stretch receptors in the smooth muscle, which results in pain.
