Millennials and Baby Boomers Own the Most Debt
The largest generation that owns the most real estate debt is Generation X and they own 41% of the US real estate debt. Millennials and boomers actually only own 27.1% of that debt. Then consumer durable goods, this is something like cars, appliances, furniture. So millennials, 18.6%, boomers, 36%. Now consumer credit, this is the stuff on credit. And so we own 40.5% of consumer credit. But to put it simply, boomers have a lot more wealth and owe a lot less but they've had time to compound.
