When a company initiates a buyback, it reduces the number of shares in the market. Sebi wants to put a full stop to this open market buyback route by April 2025. They want all companies to go through the tender route. Infosys may have to rethink its strategy as regulator Sebi isn't happy with the open market kind of buyback.
