My grandfather died before I was born, he was in his early 60s, and it was chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, COPD, black lung. We're actually known as the coal fields throughout the rest of Virginia. That is the main industry and actually only industry. There were preventive masks available, but it was hard to wear them because it's physical work. It was back breaking work,. Even with power tools they have now, eight to ten to twelve hours a day, what that does on your joints, what that doing on your lower back.
