Hesiod and the Greek Alphabet

Hesiod's poems are usually dated to the years between 750 and 700 BCE. The geography of Greece sifted populations into small to medium-sized city states. In 776 BCE, a consortium of city states held the first ever Olympic Games. These games reflected something that we call Panhellenism: linguistically unified inhabitants of Greece.
