The Limitations of Behavioral Science Insights in Public Policy
Is there ever a moment that the use of psychology and cognitive science in trying to create a certain kind of decision structure borders on manipulation? No, it's a great question. And one I've thought deeply about because, of course, I want these insights to be used for social good. So what we found- Is that right? In a low-information environment, it might just be easiest to go for that first candidate. But these nudges are not actually transforming an underlying attitude or belief about the world. That is very, very hard to do.
