We practise generosity as a way of eliminating craving, desire attachment. We don't go round and ask for things, because this is putting expectations on others that they may not be able to fulfil. When we practise gene city it helps us to eliminate craving, desired attachment. But what the buddhi is teaching you is always to accept what you are given. And if you're ever offered something and somebody offers you something like food or herbs, just say 'I'm not interested in that'
