I was just thinking about this idea of like writing to yourself or for yourself as an extended conversation. And also you're pointing at this larger conversation thing, right? Like science in a certain sense is a conversation. People are still expected to do their homework and do their due diligence and read everyone before them. It matters to say that you're going to take seriously other people's ideas and join a serious conversation.
