What Is the Connection Between the Greeks and the Modern World?

The book is about the greeks as a people and e language, rather than as a nation. It's almost by definition, anachronistic to talk about nations in the modern sense,. If you're talking about the ancient or mediaeval world. But the languages are given. This language exists, thoug the texts written in that language exist more or less continuously from about the year 14 hundred b c e right up until the present day. And what i set out to do in this book is to look as dispassionately as i could, but with active fascination, at the people who wrote these documents we know.
