The Anointing of Elizabeth
The anointing represents the monarch almost being given powers from God. The Queen emerges from Westminster Abbey wearing the St Edward's Crown. She carries in her left hand the orb and cross, symbolising state and church. As its new head, Elizabeth's domain encompasses half a billion people. But times are rapidly changing. For the first Elizabeth built an empire, the second will see it dismantled.
