Langston Hughes was one of those names like Nicki Giovanni, like Maya Angelou that just circulated. And so hearing this name enough, or beyond that, like Miles Davis or John Coltrane, I would hear these names enough and understand that this was my education. This is what I was responsible for knowing and making sure the young people after me would also know.
