The only other candidates in the Republican race are polling in single digits. Trump is running about 27 points ahead of DeSantis in Iowa and 24 points ahead of him in New Hampshire. If the media can knock DeSantis down to size then the idea would be that Trump waltzes to the nomination, which at this point is apparently sort of the plan.
