The Importance of Direct Poetry

I think of poetry as being actually a very direct form of meaning. That's just not normative. I don't even feel like I necessarily understand my own poems. My favorite poetry is very direct poetry. Like, I mean, I really like John Ashbury, but I'm just sort of, I just move through the poems and then there'll be a moment I connect to. But I feel like I'm deficient somehow.
