The Importance of Justina in the History of Christianity

Justina is an incredibly interesting character and what's kind of tragic about her is we almost wouldn't know she existed. In the mid-380s she was having a culture war with Bishop Ambrose and the reason that we don't hear very much about her is that Ambrose won the culture war. The two of them were members of different factions within Christianity at that time. So Justina is left as the sort of last man standing of the old religious dispensation. And basically she gets airbrushed out, which is a tragedy because she's a fantastically interesting figure.
