The lines may have been battle or sacrifice boundaries perhaps like lines on a football or baseball field. San Pedro cactus cooler coca leaves and maybe other psychoactive drugs were ingested by the celebrants ceremonies conductedperhaps accompanied by drums and rattles clay trumpets and flutes. The losers the injured or just the chosen had their heads removed the heads were processed and then buried with other funerary items in order to ensure good luck with water as that water supply dried up.
