The Uncannyness of Machine Learning
Machine learning is an automated process that isn't fully transparent to humans. It's not necessarily a mind at all, it's an algorithmically generated process happening inside a black box. If the systems actually worked, if we could trust them, then I would be less concerned about knowing what's inside them. But we can't. And so this stuff polite language, for example, we don't know when it's going to work and when it's not.
