The Value of Adding Self-Esteem

I think you have to make a distinction between chronic and acute deprivation. If it's Friday night and I, you know, kind of hanging up by myself and I'd like to find some other folks to hang out with and I pick up the phone and say, hey, what are you doing? That's not coming out of deprivation. It's just reaching out to satisfy a need. So for instance, I could make a case that a healthy self-esteem is actually an essential core part of being human. But maybe it comes down to an empirical question.
