The Role of Estrogen in the Female Reproductive Cycle
Estrogen is the collective name for a group of hormones with a similar structure. There are four main forms of estrogen: estrone, estradiol, estrual and estarol. It acts on the endometrium or the lining of the womb to prepare it for pregnancies. Gynecologist Dr Jackie Maben explains its role in the female reproductive cycle.
