The Importance of Mark in the Resurrection
Derek Mason: Is it possible that the reason they told no one, so to speak, is this kind of a jab at Paul's idea of saying, I learned this from none of these guys. In fact, they didn't really, there was no truth being related to them even. It took the revelation of Jesus to me personally, and that's why they ran and told no one. Matthew uses Mark as a source but what's really amazing is they had to use him because he provided a narrative spine. He's got material they can use, but they constantly either omit something they don't like or they transform it.
