Do You Long to Be a Manager of Managers?
Sometimes people think that if they're, you know, a boss of bosses, then they won't have to do anywhere. I think very often people think that they're going to get power when they become a manager of managers. And that is the wrong reason. In my experience, the people who I promoted to become managers are reluctant managers. They see value in what they are currently doing as an individual contributor and care about it.
