Introduction

Batsuhari was one of the greatest figures in Classical Sanskrit grammar. His fame rests especially on another work based on Pātangali's commentary, the Treatise on Words and Sentences. He belongs to the tradition inaugurated by the work of the great Pānani. Batsuhari is thus heir to a long tradition.
