How Did the Word Flatbush Come From?

Almost 400 years ago, the dutch arrived into the harbour that would be known as new york harbor. The original six dutch towns were brooklyn, bushwick, new utricht, gravesend, flatlands and midwot. And around this intersection of church and flapbush, to day, although those paths, those original linope paths, would have seen only horses and carts at best. Many of these dutch settlers had been farmers back in holland so this area has many topographic similarities to rural holland.
