The Cattian Massacre
The Cattian massacre of the early stages of the Second World War is one that will be very familiar to our listeners in Eastern Europe. The intelligentsia and officer class of the Polish army were rounded up in woods which are now I believe in Belarus, and were summarily executed. Winston Churchill was adamant that the Red Cross should not be allowed to go to Catean to investigate because on the basis that they would force them into producing a propaganda report. And for convenience, the United States in particular, but Britain to an extent helped or at least turned a blind eye to the cover-up.
