The Evolution of Latin Into Romantic Languages

Pope Francis has described Latin as a dead language. That used to be an argument in favor of using it in the liturgy. He said that it was important for the church to have a language that was non-vernacular. So Francis is actually at war, not just with a small sliver of his faithful, but basically with virtually all of his predecessors. It doesn't make him pause to reflect at all because he's a revolutionary.
