To claim asylum in the UK, a person must first arrive in the UK. You can't apply abroad at a British consulate or embassy and there's no visa for the specific purpose of seeking asylum in theUK. With resettlement, there is no application process. Instead, people are selected by the UN and transferred from refugee camps to participate in countries like the UK.
