The price ot the pump is going to have an immediate effect on you, but you can't make any long term planning based on it. However, you are also paying for electricity costs. Those are stickier and those are going to matter a lot more for you in terms of planning for the future. The other thing that i'm somewhat more not sure about using in some of these calculations is am, i think that things that are purchased in cash, half sticky prices, are probably the best.
