Global Student Mobility Is Increasingly Following a Stratified Order
International students typically pay are charged higher and unsubsidized fees compared to domestic students. Because the international students effectively subsidize receiving countries domestic students they help keep the host higher education institutions financially afloat. In India there is increasing suspicion if not stigma attached to students who obtain their MVDS degrees from China. So I in short I argue that global student mobility is increasingly following a stratified order and the physical mobility appears more likely to lead to social reproduction and immobility rather than social mobility.
