Sally Rooney: A Literary Wonderkin
Sally Rooney is one of those every few years who cuts through the scrim of no one reads books anymore. The best way I would describe her in her particular gifts as a writer is she's kind of like a Geiger counter for the internal lives of young people. Her books are written very, very, very much subjectively and first person. And it feels like she's just receiving the broadcast and then putting it on the page.
