Is There a Master Algorithm for Machine Learning?

I think that thinking about algorithms is where the interesting stuff comes along. And also, if you're gonna compete on algorithm, it's kind of possible to be creative and outwit a bureaucracy. So this kind of confirms my belief that big algorithm is always changing; I don't think we've found the master algorithm yet.
