We can't afford to waste materials. We re purpose them, sometimes reconfigure the plastics back to their base materials inthe recycling technologies. It doesn't happen out of nature. Maybe over long periods of time, there are microbes that'll figure out how to digest plastic and transform it back to basic materials like carbon and hydrogen and oxygen. But that's not happening any time soon on a scale that will be meaningful to solving the problems.
