The Resilience of Two Disasters
There's also the resilience of two disasters. So it's not just the temperature mitigation that you get from an urban forest like this, but also flood mitigation. If blackout hits during a heat wave, you could have 70% of Atlanta's population hit life threatening indoor temperatures. Stormwater flooding is actually Atlanta's top natural disaster. And once again, you have a forest, which is a permeable surface it absorbs a lot of water.
