Psychosis and the Prohibition of Parenting
The no of the parent or the primary caregiver is fundamentally a prohibition against living a life in which you've never heard no before any longer. If you accept language, you have to give up on pre-linguistic bio animalistic life. That process is known as castration or alienation. According to Lacan, this is one of the ways that you get psychosis. This is a radical foreclosure and utter rejection of this prohibition. The idea here is that this prohibition comes at a big cost because now you can't just do whatever the fuck you want whenever the hell you want to.
