The Night of the Long Knives

Much like the Reichstag fire, there are many things that we do not know for certain about this event. The Night of the Long Knives was partially and perhaps primarily a propaganda action. Discontent within the essay started right at the top with the leader Ernst Rome. Hitler would even go so far as to dismiss some party members who he felt were not towing the party line. This obviously set a precedent for the essay not following what Hitler said in public.
