christmas is a continuation of the carnivalesque, the carnival tradition within western culture. It's a little period of time where the rules don't apply. But by engage in it, it's also one of those things that keeps the status co of power and place. Christmas is topsy turvy - you're going around with a fooking tree whith fruit on it.
