How Many Foreign Vocabulary Words Can You Memorize in a Day?
Teachers can help their students by giving them an experiment to try out. Try memorizing foreign vocabulary using pneumonic devices, or imagine a cow with a vacuum head. You could have students who successfully remember two to 300 vocabulary items from a single day. The minimal effective dose of language for conversationally fluent people is around two thousand words.
