In 17 90, washington rented a large house from his friend robert morris. And there was a small room on the second floor which was his private study. It was about 15 by 21 by contemporary standards, it would have been considered a sort of be a hoarder's room. We would have been very uncomfortable with the amount of furniture in this space,. He had several large mahogany bookcases. A five foot wide desk that had writing services that opened on both sides for both he and his private secretaries to work on correspondence.
