Does It Depend on the Culture of the Relationship?

Friends who have been together 30 years hug each other. But every time i try to hug graham he recoils with fear in his eyes, as if i'm offering something bubonic. We get pretty much the same pattern all over europe. As far afield as japan, there are minor differences. And yes, the british are a little bit more stand offish than the other europeans but not that much. So i think it's thi stuff that's just bubbling along underneath, you know, the sort of surface of consciousness that we that is important and it's important that we do it.
