The Problem Bitcoin Developers Are Trying to Solve
The problem is that Bitcoin nodes are talking to each other in a way that anybody with access to the network can eavesdrop on it. This could be somebody monitoring your home, this could be your internet provider monitoring all their customers. And they can basically see exactly which node is sending, which transaction to which other node if they wanted to. The idea of just looking at the whole network and seeing what's going on, that's the thing we want to prevent.
