We use brain tree, so not pedal or stripe, but a lot of these function very similar. The users just pay and then our accountants do the rest. If that transaction is able to be completed, it sends us back what's called a nonce That nonce is then sent to our server via our API. So either way, if it's successful, it charges the credit card. But you don't get a ton of information if the charge was not successful. It's almost always like the card was declined. And users hate that because they like the site saying my cards declined.
In this potluck episode of Syntax, Wes and Scott answer your questions about HTML tags, budgeting, recession proofing your business, software dev vs software engineer, taking payments, and more.
