Most golfers play the fairway metal from too far back in their stance. So move the ball a little forward, set that lofted fairway metal up there and then allow the loft to work. Don't be afraid to feel like you bounce the club on the ground, right where the golf ball is,. And when you do that, the extra speed, the extra loft, will kick the ball into the air.
