Taiwan's foreign minister said last week that the US and Taiwan are in talks on the possibility of the island being brought under Washington's nuclear umbrella. Such a guarantee is unlikely to happen in the near term as it would require like a very radical change in US policy. But even just the idea that this is being discussed, I mean, that's a big provocation toward China. And there's all sorts of ways these hawks in Congress want to increase support for Taiwan.
