Early Iron Age Greece - The Sanctuary at Delphi
A sanctuary performed the function of a central place by connecting people to one another who might live quite distantly. Left-candy was a well populated town with more than a thousand inhabitants, and it was a center of pottery and metal production. The early post-palatial pottery found there has close parallels with what people had been using at palaces,. especially Thebes.
