In 321, he recognized Sunday as the day of rest for the first time. Constantine seems to have been doing everything he could to support the church without annoying the majority of the pagan population. He also built brand new Christian buildings and big ones. The Church of the Holy Sepulchre is pretty special actually. It was built directly on top of a first century tomb that local Jerusalem Christians insisted was the very sepulchre or tomb of Jesus. For some Christians his divinity was in the hands. There was even a formal announcement of his permission.
