Pinker: I have in recent years become somewhat attracted to a similar kind of problem with actually the old egalitarianism. He says that these thinkers are non-enlightenment thinkers so it's not like they're providing reason and evidence because what they do is pain and ascetic. Pinker said he thinks Marx was terrible at predicting the future but analyzed capitalism better than anyone well analyzing capitalism requires that you have empirical propositions about the nature of capitalism.
