The most common evidence of clonality, especially in acquired aplastic anemia, is a pig A mutation. Pig A is the gene on the X chromosome that causes a GPI anchor protein deficient cells. As many as 40 or 50% of patients present with the presence of P&H clone - immune escape population of cells lacking CD55 and CD59.
