How to Write a Mockup for a Score
Sam Smith, who's been working on my team forever and for the battle front scores, he did all the mockups. I wrote everything by hand. That was going to be the next thing I went to is in that same vein you had mentioned, you wanted to kind of duplicate the process. So how would John Williams do this thing then? He would sit at the piano and he'd write it on, you know, a nine-stave sketch. And so that's actually how I wrote the entire score. But once that was approved, I could take his mockups and export the MIDI into, in the notation and orchestrate from there.
