Rajan says that over the years we've taken more power away from our cities, counties and neighborhoods. He argues that in order to have stability in our world, the state, the markets and the community need to maintain a careful equilibrium. Rajan didn't call his book the three pillars. He specifically named it the third pillar. That's because he's really concerned with the community, or the lack of community.
