The Importance of Plant Immunity

Plants don't have a bloodstream to circulate immune cells around its tissues. Most plant scientists studying this need something that grows a lot faster than a tree. If you're poking a plant for some sort of immune response, it's much quicker and easier to go with the lab rat of the plant world. A weed called Arabidopsis. Over at Sheffield University in the north of England, that's what plant biologist Uraneton uses in his research.
