The Effects of Restriction on the Brain
Do we need to have the space in between meals to appreciate eating food? Like, or I believe the answer to that is yes to some degree and maybe part of mastery of life is learning to appreciate it without so much space in between where you're kind of forced to appreciate it. Long fasts, abstinence, and I think chemically our brains are producing dopamine or motivation seeking and pleasure seeking - restriction helps to then boost that dopamine later. So what's happening in my brain when I come out after eight days of darkness is probably chemically different than what happens at hey, I'm just in life. But there's things that are happening chemically that probably aren't possible without restriction.
